About This Station
The station is powered by a Davis Vantage Pro 2 wireless weather station that has operated continuously since June 2005. The data is collected every 2.5 seconds and is updated on this web site every 5 seconds using Weather Display Software. The station includes an anemometer, rain gauge, solar and ultraviolet sensors, and a thermo-hygro sensor situated in optimal positions for the highest accuracy possible.
Forecasts tailored for the local area are updated several times each day utilizing WxSim Software. Radar data for storm watching is provided by Allison House and displayed by Gibson Ridge GR3 software. Lightning detection is accomplished utilizing a Boltek StormTracker system and displayed with NexStorm software. Lightning data is immediately upchanneled to the StrikeStar system where it is combined with data from other stations and distributed to users such as Weather Underground.
Volk Field ANGB provides METAR information and the Wisconsin DOT has sensors placed along interstate highways, but this is the only easily accessable weather site in Juneau County. Data is forwarded to the National Weather Service every 5 minutes via the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) which also conducts a Qualility Control Program. Raw data from this station may viewed here courtesy of a data parser provided by Kevin Reed or here on this site.
